Transylvania Choral Society
Since its modest beginnings in 1975, The Transylvania Choral Society (TCS) has grown into one of the premier musical arts organizations in Transylvania County. The TCS enriches the lives of our concert goers by presenting world class sacred, classical, and contemporary musical works that inspire, educate and entertain.
Under the direction of Dr. David Gresham of Brevard College, TCS has recently participated in innovative performances that have reached a local and nationwide scale. In April 2018, TCS, along with the Brevard College Chamber Choir, travelled to New York City to perform the Faurè Requiem in Carnegie Hall. December 2019 saw the North American premier of Bob Chilcott’s Christmas Oratorio at the Porter Center. In May of 2022, the TCS collaborated with 100 children from the Transylvania County Schools to present, “When You Believe,” a sold-out family friendly concert of songs that appealed to all ages. The TCS was proud to present John Rutter’s Magnificat in December of 2022 and led the audience on An American Spiritual Journey in April of 2023.
